After talking with a friend of mine about a new offering at Honey Baked Ham (honey baked bacon, anyone?), we were talking about the deliciousness that is candied bacon. I’ve always liked Honey Baked ham; with its spicy sweetness–but the thought of doing it with bacon is extra delicious sounding. Of course, the results were amazing!
It wasn’t a recipe without a little bit of disaster, though. This was actually the results of the first batch I tried to make:
Yeah…that’s not beef jerky there. That bacon got burnt while I watched the end of a good movie. It really wasn’t in the oven long; maybe 30 minutes? Lesson learned: candied bacon burns much faster than regular bacon in the oven. Case in point? Watch. Your. Bacon. Closely.
