Eating healthy, for me, is about more than weight loss like it used to be. It’s about controlling my blood sugar levels and obtaining normal–or relatively normal–hormone levels. I still struggle to lose weight efficiently, but eating a wheat, sugar and gluten free diet helps to control some of the problems I’ve encountered with these health issues of mine.

Spiced Candied Bacon

By Leeann Teagno / January 11, 2015

After talking with a friend of mine about a new offering at Honey Baked Ham (honey baked bacon, anyone?), we were talking about the deliciousness that is candied bacon. I’ve always liked Honey Baked ham; with its spicy sweetness–but the thought of doing it with bacon is extra delicious sounding. Of course, the results were […]

Girl Scout Cookie Round Up

By Leeann Teagno / January 7, 2015

It’s that time of year again: Girl Scout Cookie season! As a Girl Scout mom myself, I know how hard the temptation can be for wheat free low carbers such as yourself. With most cookies containing an average of 200 calories and 17g of sugar per serving, it’s no wonder why we’d want to steer […]

The Gift of Giving

By Leeann Teagno / November 19, 2014

I wanted to take a few moments to tell all my readers a story, given the holiday season that is upon us. It doesn’t have anything to do with food, diets, nutrition or health. Then again, if mental health counts, maybe it does. This post is deeply personal and contains some very private information that […]

Basil Chicken with Sun Dried Tomato & Asiago Creme and Crispy Prosciutto

By Leeann Teagno / September 28, 2014

One of my favorite restaurants here in town has this wonderful pasta dish that features crispy prosciutto on the top. Now I can’t eat the pasta, but the prosciutto? That’s another story. If you’ve never had prosciutto, you’re missing out hugely. It’s not bacon. It’s more ham-like. It’s a slow cured, bone-in pork leg; the […]
